Day 175 – April 14th

Today is bittersweet as it is my last time at the the ACC for a regular season game this season……the Raptors won but have limped into the playoffs……it is sweet because in around a week’s time I will be watching playoff basketball.  It is bitter because in my 7 years of having Raptor season seats I have never enjoyed a season as little as I have this one.

I will post more of my thoughts on the Raptors at season end, but for the moment will offer up the following: firstly the team appears to have regressed or at least it hasn’t fulfilled it’s potential.  Players simply haven’t played up to expectations and a .500 season after the success of last year is certainly a let down.

Secondly and perhaps more importantly is the people I have attended games with, with the exception of Zahir who is both knowledegable of the game and a true fan….I have been accompanied by people who have no real interest in the game at all……..prior to next season I will hunt out some true Raptor fans but at the moment have no idea where I will find them.

What else happened today……more squash a 3-0 win over a fellow Brit, but to be honest I am still playing terrible, followed up the squash with a quick chest workout.  It appears I am slowly expanding my circle of friends (Can you really call someone you know just from the gym a friend? Probably not) at the TAC and today was chatting to girl called Deana……..she is at the gym all the time but we’d never really had a conversation before, and we both agreed that the overall “tone” of the club in terms of members speaking with each other is significantly different to clubs we have experienced in the past.  It is the social interactions of Wellington that I miss the most, although over time hopefully my circle of TAC “Friends” will increase.

Probably the best news of the day however is that I have expanded my bobble-head collection, and as result it now stands at 14, whilst a John McDonald Blue Jays bobble-head is all well and good……my favourite remains my Spiderman bobble-head.
