Day 225 – June 3rd

I have been feeling tired all day for a number of reasons……….firstly the last few days of work are catching up with me although it looks now as though the first stage of the project that will from this point forward be simply know as the “monster” is finally coming to end, as I managed to make it out of work today at the “relatively” early time of 6pm.

The second reason why I am so tired is because last night I didn’t make it to bed until past 1pm after watching a triple overtime thriller of hockey game that saw Pittsburgh prevail as a result of one the finest goal keeping displays I have ever seen……….in the words of the commentator calling the game, the keeper quite simply “stood on his head”.  There has been a remarkable change in my viewpoint to this particular sport as if someone had said just a couple of years ago that I would be up until one in the morning watching hockey I would have replied “I don’t think so”………..maybe I am now truly “Canadian”.

As a result of my early finish from work, I finally made it to the gym and the weight gain program has now begun in earnest with a quality bicep/tricep workout.  I also had an interesting discussion with the head squash pro who gave me some quality advice on the woes I am continuing to have with my hip……that in all honesty today hurts like hell.

Get home and watch the final American primaries and it looks as though Barack Obama has finally seen off Hilary Clinton to win the presidential nomination…….I am not sure what will happen next but if they decide to get together and form an Obama/Clinton ticket for the general election, I would see it as being pretty much an unstoppable force.  Is john McCain (The opposition) the “immovable” object that can withstand the unstoppable force?  Based on what I have seen tonight………I don’t think so.

Whilst the content of political speeches can seldom be taken at face value given the amount of rhetoric and spin they contain, I am able to comment on the delivery of said speeches.  Clinton – Very Good.  Obama – Very Good, Bordering Excellent – he is an excellent orator.  As for McCain in my opinion it was one of the worst speeches I have ever seen by a major public figure…………and if this is the benchmark going forward to a presidential election I see a number of potential beat-downs given to McCain whenever the two go head to head in either a debate or speeches on the same night.

Mood for the day 5 out of 10……..I would have probably preferred to see Clinton as the nominee, however I am pleased to have finally made it back into the gym.
