Day 229 – June 8th
Today appears to have gone on for an age and it is yet to end as I am about to sit down and watch game 2 of the NBA finals. It started early with the final of the French Open and I was all set for another Federer/Nadal classic………….not on this day though as Nadal laid down a beat-down of epic proportions. With each French open that passes the likelihood of Federer winning one begins to diminish, whilst the accomplishment of Andrea Aggasi becomes even more impressive as the last man to win the career grand slam (1999) since 1964.
People often compare sporting greats and Tiger Woods and Federer may both have a similar number of majors Tiger has won the career grand slam not once but twice and if he triumphs next week at the US Open it will be 3 times.
Following the tennis I went to the gym to go to a Pilate’s class that I though started at 11:30……….however as the class started at 10:30 I only caught the very end and noticed the instructor somewhat hobbling as she now has a strained back maybe this is as a result of falling of the pedestal I mentioned a couple of days ago. Not really being in the mood for a gym workout I took to the pool instead and swam a solid 1000m I should really get back in the pool more often especially now that the summer has arrived.
Home to watch the Canadian Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton made a “monster” error that pretty much cost him the race by running into another car by driving through a red light. On the positive side if you’re going to take yourself out of the race you may as well take your main championship rival out of the race as well and that’s exactly what happened here with Hamilton slamming into the back of his main rival who had correctly stopped at the light.
It was far too hot after the race to go for my walk so instead went to see the movie War Inc……..it is dark comedy and very well done……and examines just how far people/companies are prepared to go in order to profit from the various conflicts and wars and that exist. To be honest I was close to walking out of this movie after 10 mins as it has a slow start to say the least however I’m certainly glad I stuck it out as in the end it was a thoroughly entertaining movie.
Finally off for my walk in the scorching heat and now I’m back home to watch the NBA in order to finish the day………I should sleep well tonight as I feel completely beat down.
Given it’s been a while I’ll post a couple more dating stories over the next couple of days the titles “The Christmas Day Massacre” and “The Glass Half Empty”
Mood for the day 8 out of 10.
